Weekend in Review: Cheese & Trees

This past weekend was a good one. It was beautiful weather (shorts weather!) and involved lots of walking and adventures. While I haven’t been able to convince the boyfriend to see Le Week-End just yet (it’ll be saved as a rainy day activity), we did many other things to fill up the weekend!

Saturday, we decided to grab a bottle of wine and head over to Mercato BYOB for dinner! The staff was kind enough to let us sit at an outside table 15 minutes before they opened. We sipped our wine while waiting for dinner to be served.

BlMsL6oIgAAM9Zb^^^Mercato’s cheese plate was very good! We chose 3 of the 5 cheeses available, and each came with a fruit/honey/nut complement. My only complaint was that we weren’t given enough bread (for vessels)!

BlNDIBzIUAEb7od^^^My pan seared diver scallops with wild mushroom & english pea risotto, parmesan crisp, and truffle oil. This dish was tasty, but I was even more impressed with my boyfriend’s dish…

We were stuffed after our meal and decided to walk to our favorite park before heading home. We spotted a few frenchies along the way! We’re always super inquisitive whenever we spot someone with a french bulldog, seeing as we’ll hopefully be in the market for one in the near future! Their owners were really helpful and let us play with their pups for a while. It was the best.

The next day was even warmer, with temps into the 80s!  We put on shorts for the first time this spring and headed out to Morris Arboretum. We got in free with our PennCards and walked around the grounds a bit, soaking up the sun. Here are a few of my favorite pictures from the arboretum.

IMG_1865^^^The Victorian Fernery was kind of amazing. The entrance is impressive. It’s like walking into a new world.

Honestly, I wish there were at least more cherry blossoms blooming at the arboretum. Perhaps in a couple weeks! I think I saw more blooms on my runs last week in the city…Oh well! We will visit again in the summer!

The night ended with some frisbee outside- something we’ve been waiting to do all winter! We were so lucky with the weather this weekend. Although a few rainy days are on the way, I’m hoping the warm, sunny days come right back for Easter weekend. Happy Tuesday, everyone!
